a few pics from this past week in canada

blueberries make me happy .. esp if they are wild

okay who am i kidding?
any berry makes me happy.
but sunripened ones are the best.
these were picked in the marshall's yard

emily and her poppy
he looks grumpy but he isn't
this was taken on the ferry to halifax

a snow shovel and bag of salt
on the deck in august??

haha...
yup in canada eh?
i have had goosebumps lately
and everyone here is talking about how HOT it is
they don't know hot like we do....

this is as close as i got to peggy's cove
need to go soon.
i love that place sooooooooooo much!!!

matt matters hanging out after a long day at work
xo
he is going through alot these days...
please pray for him

isn't it amazing that no matter where we are
the moon is in the sky
you saw this same moon where ever you laid your
head a couple of nights ago.
i remember as a little girl traveling to manitoba
(from northern ontario)
through the night
and the moon just kept following us.
i was in awe that it knew that way to my grama's house.

smart moon.

:-)

one of the things i love about canada

a day all together

we flew through the night
last monday night
and landed in halifax at 7:00 am
tired but excited to see the kids

we were grateful that dave marshall picked us up
and loaned us his car and his phone.
so great to have good friends.

the first thing we did, after dropping off our luggage at karen's place
was go round up the kids
and go out for breakfast together

bob and the boys walking together in halifax

sibling love

all together at the waterfront in halifax

we wandered along the waterfront
talking, catching up on news,
laughing and taking touristy
photos

the Mcdonald bridge from halifax to dartmouth

we used to come to the waterfront all the time
and try to climb the wave.
no one was willing to do it this time though.
shucks.
apparently david told me there is a video out there of
me climbing to the top.
it isn't as easy as it looks.
i was tempted to try it!!

after spending part of the afternoon at karen's
catching up on lost sleep, visiting with friends etc
we decided to go to jamieson's for dinner
it was wonderful to be together and also to see
terry and marsha

david and emily waiting  in the lounge for our
table to be ready.

david flew out of halifax at 7:00 pm
so we ended up having 12 hours together
it was short but sweet.
this was taken at the airport.
i love this photo of all of them
saying goodbye isn't easy
but love supercedes distance or time
and i am grateful for the time we had together

emily and mattie are still in
dartmouth and we have been enjoying spending time with them
it does my 'mom heart' good to be near them, to listen to them,
to help them in any way we can while we are here.

all work no play

after flying through the night, spending a day in the airport, a night in vegas and another day of travel we landed in canada at midnight on tuesday night.

since we came to vernon our feet have hit the ground running and we haven't stopped since.    we had the guys from dodd's auction coming on wednesday afternoon, so we spent the morning unloading the container and sorting through the things we wanted them to have.   we were thankful to have our host, george come and help us move the heavy furniture out.

i spent most of my time sorting through and deciding what i wanted to go to the auction and what i wanted to ship to nova scotia.  we were told that the auction would take boxes and a variety of things so when they arrived there were boxes and furniture all over the yard.   we were a little disappointed when they told us that they couldn't take everything.   oh well.

now we are having a garage sale this morning.
it has been an interesting journey for me personally as i have looked through
all the kids artwork, and writings, as i have read cards and old letters
my heart has been tugged in many directions.
of course i kept all those personal things as well as photos.
i kept our photo albums, photos, my journals, the kid's personal things,
some books and some china and dishes,
but the rest of the 'stuff' is going.

it leaves me with an interesting feeling
bittersweet.

on the road again

yesterday afternoon we began our journey
from roatan to vernon bc
the skies were cloudy and the weather coolish for roatan
i had this incredible sadness sweep over me as we flew over
our lovely island.

when did she steal my heart so?
not sure.
we flew to san pedro sula
through some of the most beautiful clouds ever!
doesn't that remind you of heaven??
it does to me.
apparently when we landed the pilot told us
that another plane was stuck in the storm,
circling, circling and circling

but we got in without incident.
thank You Lord...

our next flight was scheduled to leave
at 1:15 am and we really didn't want to hang around the airport
for 6 hours so bob found a guy who worked at the airport driving a
shuttle van to take us to the mall so we could eat, wander around
and go see a movie.

we went to see shrek.
it was in spanish with no subtitles.
i was encouraged how much i could understand.

we flew through the night and i am grateful for the sleep
we got on the plane but 2 hours wasn't quite enough
so once we landed in florida i found a quiet spot
on the floor and promptly fell asleep.

i was awoken by a mentally challenged guy who
woke me up by hitting his foot against mine
when i sat up groggily he said
'sorry i didn't mean to wake you!'
now i am normally really quite amiable when
i wake up but i looked at this total stranger and
grumbled
'yes you did!!'

so i am up now.
it looks like it is almost breakfast time
we have about 3 more hours here
and then on to las vegas for the night
whooo hooo!

i will  keep you posted
xo

July 1, 2010

its that time again folks
time to take another trip to the east side!

this is luz enjoying the breeze and the view

we linked up with charles bodden and took a
tour through the mangroves.
his dorie was very narrow but he assured us
it was good n stiff.
(whatever that means!)

isn't the water the bluest you have ever seen??

charles
master dorie driver
amazing story teller

 no fear
heading straight into the waves
love that!

this little girl was looking down at the sea turtles
she had the greenest most beautiful eyes in the world.

meet flora
from punta gorda
she is the lady who made this seashell fence

this is her house
umm.. interesting
i have never seen so many crocheted items before.
they were everywhere.. covering the furniture, the tv, the stereo
everywhere!!
she has been living in new york for the past 25 years and just
recently returned to punta gorda to retire.
a wonderful warm lady!

nothing like a good strong wind to dry your clothes!
i love the shadows on the beach.

the catholic church
St. Ignatius Loyola

being entertained by the garifuna dancers
at YUBU

look at that view!
incredible isn't it?
this is the new golf course that is open
called the Black Pearl.
the view of french harbour from the top of the
golf club house.
beautiful isn't it?
i am happy to see these orchids.
i thought there was only one variety of orchids on the island
nice to see another kind.
this was taken at rick and luz'
place

that is enough photos for now
i can't believe that after going to the east side
over a dozen times that i never tire of the views
i enjoy meeting the people over there
they are warm, engaging and down to earth.

it was a great way to spend canada day.
although i didn't see any fireworks
i did sing the national anthem
i am getting so excited to be coming to Canada for a visit.

hope to see alot of you on that trip!
:-)
